As we say goodbye to a challenging year, the paint industry is here to comfort you with a new color palette of bold but beautiful shades of warm earth-tones in hopes of a brighter 2021. Your home is your sanctuary, a space where you can feel grounded & comfortable and the colors that surround you inside your home should help give you that same sense of stability and security.
Though all the big paint manufactures have crafted their very own 2021 Colors of The Year they all seem to have one thing in common – making home improvement synonymous with self-improvement. Not only do the color palettes of 2021 emanate a sense of relaxation and steadiness, but they also radiate the promise of better days ahead through vivacious & sunbaked shades that give you all the warm and fuzzy feelings. You may never want to leave your home again (though we are optimistic we will be able to in 2021).
Pantone, the industry’s leading color expert, has selected two colors to be their 2021 Color of The Year – Ultimate Gray (Pantone 17-5104) + Illuminating (Pantone 13-0647). According to Pantone, these colors are “Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is one of strength and positivity. It is a story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly.”
Ultimate Gray can ground a room making it feel composed and steady while an accent of Illuminating, perhaps on a piece of furniture or maybe even on the ceiling, can give the space the perfect pop of color to keep the room bright and cheerful.
Sherwin Williams, another industry leader, has selected a deeper and warmer earth tone – Urbane Bronze (SW7048) – for its 2021 Color of the Year and we could not be more excited about it! This shade is rich and moody yet simple and sophisticated. It is a warm hue that draws from nature for a feeling of relaxation & serenity.
This dark tone could be used to accentuate the trim in a room or perhaps just an accent wall. Urbane Bronze pairs well with warm neutrals and bone whites as well as earthy green tones, wood, stone, & an array of metals. We think it is a perfect color for cabinetry too!
Shifting to something a bit brighter, Benjamin Moore has selected 12 hues that radiate warmth, wellbeing, and natural harmony with Aegean Teal (2136-40) being its front-runner. This sunbaked tone is intriguing, balanced, deeply soothing and just what we need after a stressful 2020. It is bright and cheerful with just the right balance of sophistication and elegance. It pairs perfectly with the other 11 hues which includes almost all the colors of the rainbow, a very classy and beautiful rainbow. If you are not afraid of color, Benjamin Moore’s 2021 Color Trends are perfect for you.
PPG, Behr, & Valspar have also come out with new colors for the New Year that are meant to transform a space and promote wellness for the mind, body, and spirit as well as elevate your mood by evoking serenity, simplicity, and mindfulness. Again, this is being done through warm earth-tones like the deep greens of the grass and the woods, blue hues of the sky and ocean, and even yellows as bright as the sun to warm your heart and keep you smiling. And if bright color scares you, they have plenty of warm neutrals to keep you comfortable too.
The color of the walls of your home are a direct representation of you and your emotions.
