A New Layout Brings New Perspective: Spring Mill Kitchen Renovation

Exceptionally beautiful in looks, it is hard to believe the focus of this renovation was centered around improving the functionality of not just the kitchen but the entire home. ACo Designer, Carlie Suski paired up with local construction professional, Anthony Builders, to create this chef’s dream kitchen. The entire quadrant of the home was reconfigured to allow for a better flow throughout the first floor and a more spacious kitchen, perfect for entertaining.

The original kitchen was a poorly arranged space broken up by a small island that was more in-the-way than functional. The laminated cabinets were discoloring and peeling, and the appliances were not installed to code, which was a dangerous fire hazard.

Today, the kitchen is nearly unrecognizable, and for all the right reasons. A new layout was designed to accommodate a better kitchen flow for both cooking and entertaining. There is now an increased amount of cabinet storage and a large island which allows for more workspace and informal seating. Additionally, a previously sectioned off space was opened up, so the main family table has a space in the kitchen. This remodel also included a relocation and changed direction of the stairs for a more welcoming space, an updated laundry room, and a new mudroom was added encompassing previous dead space.

“The space is unbelievably better. Coming in just through the mudroom is an oh wow moment with how different it is,” says designer Carlie. “Overall, I am so excited with how this reno took the house to the next level in terms of updating functionality and flow. Even the change with the staircase, which now greets you at the front door, is more inviting to guests as well as more convenient for the family.”

In the kitchen, paneled state-of-the-art appliances around the perimeter of the room really take the space to the next level. The decorative wood hood creates the perfect focal point in the room. Crisp white custom cabinetry with white quartz Cambria countertops and white subway tile installed in a herringbone pattern keep this space feeling bright and open while the brushed nickel finishes add the perfect touch of elegance and sophistication. Overall, the new space is a balance of function and beauty.
