Big Home Remodel Challenge: Too Many Choices and Decisions to Make!

Big Home Remodel Challenge: Too Many Choices and Decisions to Make!

Overwhelmed with Remodeling Decisions?

It’s easy to become overwhelmed with remodeling decisions.

You want clean, contemporary, luxurious countertops. You can picture them in your head already! But are you imagining granite, quartz, limestone, or marble?

You want to add more flair to your kitchen appliances. But should you go with a retro theme (rounded corners, pivoting handles, chrome finish, and all), ultra-modern, or somewhere in between? Should you go with black or stainless steel or opt for a bold color?

You want a spa-like experience in your master bath. But which tubs, faucets, shower heads, countertops, and cabinetry will deliver?

This is the dilemma faced by homeowners considering a remodel: there are simply too many choices! To achieve the look you want, it feels like you must make thousands of decisions based on style, function, features, and budget. It can be difficult to balance these and make the right call for your home.

That’s what we’re here for! Schedule a free in-home consultation and we’ll get started together.

Decision Fatigue

Today’s manufacturers offer a stunning range of options. There is an endless selection of stoves, refrigerators, washers/dryers, floorings, countertops, fixtures, faucets, tubs, showers… and then there are the colors, patterns, and textures.

We all love having choice, the opportunity to turn a house into our dream home. But too much is just too much; it can lead to decision fatigue.

When we make too many choices, the quality of our decisions is reduced. We may avoid decisions or make impulsive choices. Eventually, you may even get to a point where you say, “I don’t care. Install whatever faucet you want, and let’s be done with it!”

No wonder you’re tired! There’s a lot to think about when it comes to a major remodel.

Decisions, Decisions!

The big question is: what can you do when you feel overwhelmed by all of the decisions in front of you?

  • Start at the beginning: with inspiration. Whether you browse showrooms, click through Pinterest, or flip through design magazines, take some time to really think through what you want. Don’t put pressure on yourself to decide on every facet of your project at this point. Just relax, look at the options available, and discover what speaks to you.
  • Take our “Love Where You Live” quiz. In a few minutes, you can pinpoint aspects of your home that you’re not completely in love with. This will help you narrow your focus when it comes to the decisions ahead.
  • Think big picture at first. Don’t let your favorite paint color guide your decisions! Start with the major elements, such as flooring and cabinetry. Then work your way through lighting, hardware, and color. Big, permanent choices should be made first: they will have the most significant effect on your budget, timeline, and results. Then, as you clarify these in your mind (and in drawings with you designer), you can begin to think about the smaller components.
  • Work with a partner. Being able to rely on a trusted designer and project manager takes a great deal of the stress out of your project. Lean on their expertise. It’s your home, but their experience can help you see options more clearly and make decisions that you’ll love living with.

Remodeling decisions can be exhausting. Take a breath, work with your designer, and your vision will become a reality. Our designers will put you at ease by providing clear direction and expectations, guiding you through our proven and worry-free approach to create luxurious kitchen, bath, and flooring spaces so you can truly love where you live. Contact us today for a free in-home consultation.
