A Fresh Face on a Functional Space

A Fresh Face on a Functional Space

Although compact and confined, Designer Haley Lohss saw big potential in this antiquated Carmel Kitchen. The small footprint made for a pre-existing functional layout, causing the material selection to be the main focus of the remodel. Without making too many modifications, this traditional kitchen was given a substantial rejuvenation.

The two-toned ornate cabinetry was refined with a more simplistic full-overlay door, while the natural maple finish freshened up the overall tone of the space. White linoleum sheet vinyl was replaced with low maintenance luxury vinyl tile in a soft stone texture. The new tones complimented the hardwood floors in the adjacent room, making the home feel more cohesive.

Contrast was added to the space with speckled quartz countertops and oil-rubbed bronze finishes. LED under cabinet lighting was used to emphasize the 3”x6” honed stone backsplash in a herringbone pattern.

An existing desk area was replaced with cabinetry for additional storage, while the change in cabinet still allowed for a designated work station.

By freshening up the materials in the space, a whole new kitchen was born. To see other refreshing updates, please visit our gallery at
