Deciding to remodel your master bathroom may not be a decision that happens all at once. It may start out as an annoyance, such as a large garden tub that takes up a lot of space, but hardly gets used. However, you decide you can live with it for now and you will remodel later. Sometimes, though, the need to remodel is a little more urgent, such has a shower leak that causes damage rendering the space unusable. Often, the true catalyst for embarking on a full-scale remodel is a combination of factors.
Such was the case for these homeowners. A leaky shower meant they needed a fix now, but the desire for a space they loved meant they wanted to take their time. Working with ACo Designer Kayley Vargo, these homeowners brought to life their vision of a bright open space with a large walk-in shower and a more modern, yet timeless transitional design.
By reconfiguring the entire layout, the bathroom now features a more usable vanity in a warm shade of gray on Maple cabinetry. Separate sinks and a central cabinet help maintain their own personal areas. Sleek black hardware and accents provide a modern contrast to the more traditional style cabinetry.
Then it was out with the old garden tub and in with a large zero-threshold walk-in shower. Large format tiles in the shower and on the floor keep things modern while the accent tile provides a nod to the the traditional style throughout the home. The relocation of the vanities also opened additional space right outside the shower for a spa-like sitting area with towel hooks.
The final touch to update this master bathroom isn’t seen but felt. When the new tile floors went in, a Ditra heat system was also installed to keep things warm and cozy, even on the chilliest of mornings.
