Charming Blue Kitchen, Eye-Catching Design
It’s a common tale these days, home buyers find an almost perfect house, in the perfect location. So, they go for it and buy the home. Then, it is time for the fun part: renovating their new home so they can love where they live!
Although these homeowners loved their new house on Independence Court, they weren’t thrilled with the kitchen. Their biggest issues were the layout of the island and the built-in hutch style wall of cabinetry. These details made the kitchen feel heavy and slightly oppressive. So, the homeowners wanted to update both the style and open up the footprint for a brighter, airier space.
With help from ACo Designer Mia Farrell, the plan for this space quickly fell into place. The island design was squared off and made a single level for an expansive counterspace. White MSI Carrara Marmi countertops reflect light, keeping the space bright and popping against the dark Nightfall base cabinets from Quality. Upper cabinets in Cotton add additional contrast and are complimented by the Mercury Gray backsplash (Retrospace Subway Tile from Daltile). Sleek, matte black Lynwood Pulls from Top Knobs complete the look in this transitional space.
The real head turner, though, is off to the side of the kitchen where the heavy wall of cabinets used to reside. In this space, a gorgeous blue floral wallpaper makes for a truly eye-catching detail. Functionality is maintained with a pair of rustic wood shelves and iron brackets. It is a truly one-of-a-kind design that makes the most of the spaces in this charming blue kitchen.
