Finishing the basement is a project that makes it way on to many homeowners To-Do lists. ACo Designer Carlie Suski’s clients were ready to tackle their blank canvas and called her in for help achieving their industrial style vision for their basement bar.
The basement area had already been plumbed for a bar by the builder, so finishing it out was a matter of perfecting the details. With family who would be staying in another area of the basement long-term, it was also essential that the bar area function as a small kitchen space for guests.
Keeping with the industrial style, they selected Sherwin Williams color of the year, Urbane Bronze, for the shaker style custom cabinets. This dark, moody paint color keeps the tone of space rich and masculine. The chevron backsplash, WOW Tile Boho in Steel Elle, adds some metallic interest and is a more distinctive choice for a bar space. The finishing touch was to add a matte suede finish to the Negresso granite countertops. A polished, shiny counter would have looked out of place, while the earthy rough feel of the suede finish completes the industrial vibe.
